“When we experience difficulties in life, it’s a clear sign that we’re a beloved son or daughter of Hashem.  Knowing that Hashem loves us and does everything for our benefit makes life not only bearable, but gratifying.  The contrary also holds true – ignorance of the fact that Hashem loves us and is helping us to attain our needed tikkun is the root of all suffering, worry, and anxiety.” – The Garden of Emuna

    The question is how:

how is our suffering a sign hashem loves us?
How does Tikkun work? by having more emuna to get us through the difficult stuff?

This needs to be fleshed out.

David, just as a father knows what is best for his son and sometimes has to punish him in order for him to get back on the right path, so to with Hashem and each one of us.

We each have a purpose in life. When we get off the path, perhaps Hashem steps in and tries to get us back on the right path. In doing so, perhaps we feel like He is punishing us, but if we realize that everything happens for a reason and that it is for the best, we can be at peace, knowing that Hashem is doing this for a reason and He is actually helping us.
