    I believe you need to buy a preposition or two: A mentsch tracht, un Got lacht.

    Believe it or not, I was going back and forth whether to include the “un,” but when I looked up the origin of the quote, i noticed that most places had it without the “un,” so i went with the vast majority. However, I also prefer to use it with the “un.”
