“I will” is a bad trait.
“I want” is and is not a [good] trait.
“I am” is a good trait.
~ The Kotzker Rebbe zt”l
Why is “I will” a bad trait. Isn’t it good to have goals?
I think it is a take off of “If not now, when?” from Pikei Avos. Saying I will do something later is not a good trait. I will learn later, I will do a mitzvah later….Better to just do it now.
Do you have a specific source for this? Thanks
I got it out of “The Sayings of Menahem Mendel of Kotsk” by Simcha Raz. He cites several sources, but I am not sure where this line is from.
