Chazal (Rosh Hashanah 2:) tell us, “One day a year is counted like a year.”

The Chidushei HaRim zt’l says this alludes to erev Rosh Hashanah. This one day is equal to the entire year. If we do teshuvah on this day, it will be considered as if we were righteous the entire year. ~ R’ Elimelech Biderman
