At farbrengens, when the song declared, “I believe in the coming of the Moshiach—even though he may tarry,” the Lubavitcher Rebbe would clearly enunciate the first part but hum the rest.

Why?

Apparently, he hoped Moshiach would come immediately. So why acknowledge in advance the expectation that he might delay?
