Spend generously on your wife. And if funds are limited, let her see your desire to give.

As Rabbi Akiva told his wife: “If I had the means, I would place upon you a golden ornament engraved with the image of Jerusalem” (Nedarim 50a).

And indeed, the Gemara later testifies that he fulfilled that very promise. (Shabbos 59b)
