The Other Half

Someone complained to Reb Moshe Kliers zt’l about his many problems. The rav replied,

“Why did you only tell me half of the story?”

“What is the other half?” the man asked.

“I don’t know. The other half hasn’t happened yet. But there is another half – the salvation that will come in the end.”

Hashem’s Agents

Why does every mitzvah a Jew performs activate great and awesome spiritual consequences in the upper worlds?

Because Hashem commanded us to do mitzvos—we are His agents! And the Gemara (Nedarim 72b) teaches that an agent is like the one who sent him.

Thus, when we do a mitzvah, it is Hashem acting through us—no wonder it has such an immense impact.

That is Hashem’s job, and He is always way ahead of us.

Learning vs. Chesed?

For one who closes the Gemara to go do Chesed – for him the Gemara is still open.

For one who opens the Gemara in order not to have to go do Chesed – for him the Gemara is still closed.
