Become Wealthy

Rava told the people of his community, “Honor your wives so that you will become wealthy”

~ Bava Metzia 59a

R’ Eliemech Biderman explains, that at the first sin of creation, women were cursed that their husbands would rule over them. Men were cursed with the burden of working for a parnassah.

Therefore, if a man will relieve his wife from her curse by honoring her, and not ruling over her, he will be liberated from his curse, and won’t need to work hard to earn his parnassah. As Chazal say, “Honor your wives, so that you will become wealthy.”

Top 3 Blessings

Quickly write down the top 3 blessings you have in your life.

Now, look at the list.

How many people wrote, “I’m thankful to be a Jew?”

Most people do not, but not because they don’t feel that way.

They realize it, but they aren’t living with it; they are not experiencing constant gratitude at the fact that they are Jews.

Live with it, express it, discuss it always, and your children will realize how fortunate they are, how truly blessed they are that they get to serve Hashem.

Why We Occasionally Sin

Rabbi Yisroel Salanter would constantly say that the root of all transgressions is a lack of Emuna.

It comes from a failure to internalize the fact that there is a reward for doing good and punishment for doing wrong.

It comes from a failure to visualize how an evil person suffers in Gehenom while the righteous are blessed with eternal ecstasy.

~ R’ Chaim Mordechai Katz zt”l (1894-1964)

Humility

The Gemara (Sanhedrin 88b) describes a person who merits a place in the World to Come as one who is unpretentious, has a humble posture, bends his head when he enters and leaves [to avoid attention], and regularly studies Torah, yet does not take credit for himself.
