The Results are In!

At the beginning of the week, I asked the following question:

If you could have 3 guests for Friday night dinner – anyone from the beginning of time – who would you invite?

Here were your answers.

The most popular guests:

1. Moshe Rabeinu

2. Dovid Hamelech

3. Rochel Imeinu

4. Avraham Avinu

5. Yosef Hatzadik

6. Sara Imeinu

7. Adam Harishon

8. Esther Hamalka

9. Rabbi Akiva

10. R’ Nachman & the Lubavitcher Rebbe

Other popular answers were 3 aniyim (poor people) – Rav Dovid Feinstein’s famous answer, and other variations of this. Many people would invite loved ones who have passed away and miss so much, and one of my favorite answers was “My wife, My son, My daughter – BH everyone is alive and well. But my Friday night dinner is simply incomplete without my family.”

Turn it Up + Q of the W

At 211 degrees, water is hot.

At 212 degrees, it boils.

And with boiling water, comes steam.

And with steam, you can power a train.

Sometimes we could be one prayer from getting our prayers answered.

Don’t give up, turn it up.

The Right Partner

Marriage is not a question of finding the right partner.

A Promise from Hashem

If Hashem would promise someone that He will help him, the person would be very happy.  He wouldn’t have any worries at all.

That is how we should feel when we have bitachon!Β

Depression

Depression isn’t an aveirah, but it pulls people down more than the greatest aveirah.Β

Simcha isn’t a mitzvah, but it raises a person higher than the greatest mitzvah.Β

It’s Premature

Yosef was sold as a slave by his brothers, but this humiliation led to his becoming a great leader.

Tamar was rejected, but this rejection led to her becoming the mother of the dynasty of King David.

We can learn from these and similar Torah incidents that any time we become discouraged from unfortunate events in our lives, we are reacting prematurely.

Our lowest moments can lead to our greatest fortune.

How Everything is for the Good

The Be’er Mayim Chaim explains that everything is for the good: either to free people from their aveiros and from Gehinom, to increase their reward in Olam Habbah, or to remind them to do teshuvah.Β

And at times, the circumstances we perceive as bad are really good, only it takes time until we recognize it.
