The Arizal teaches that each day of the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah gives us the opportunity to repair the mistakes we made on that same day of the week throughout our lives.

But if there are only seven days of the week, why are there ten days of teshuvah?

Because Rosh Hashanah accounts for two days, and Yom Kippur for one—leaving seven days, one for each day of the week.
