There are double the amount of pesukim regarding the preparation for the giving of the Torah (26) than the actual giving of the Torah (13).  That is because the preparation for a mitzvah is greater than the mitzvah itself.

The Kotzker Rebbe zt’l said that he is still waiting to see “the children.” Many parents don’t learn Torah because they are busy working so their children should be able to study Torah. Those children also don’t study Torah because they are busy working so their children should be able to study Torah. He is still waiting to see those children who everyone is working for.

Instead, it would be much better if everyone would designate times for Torah study, so each person can grow in Torah to the best of their abilities.

If a person struggles in this world to understand the Torah, even if he lacks the capacity to comprehend it, he should not be discouraged.

In the World to Come, when he sits in the Heavenly Academy, he will then be able to understand the Torah with which he struggled in this world. His efforts will be richly rewarded.

The Arizal used to pour compliments on his disciple, R’ Chaim Vital zt”l and would even compare him to the great tana’im in the Mishna.  When he objected stating that he doesn’t come close to their level, the Arizal explained that due to the tumah in the world in their generation, it’s very difficult to serve Hashem.  Therefore, every small deed is comparable to many great deeds of the past generations. 

This was 450 years ago. How much more so does this apply today!
