Attain Clarity

Sometimes we believe, but it is without clarity, without certainty. The month of Nissan, and especially during Pesach, and even more so, at the Seder, we should be thinking and talking about emunah, because these are days when we have a greater potential for attaining clarity in emunah.

You be You

Each one of us is a neshamah, a soul, placed in a body.

That body, with the neshamah, was born to this man and woman, at this time, in this place, with a specific role, one that will take a precise amount of years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds.

What a shame it is that some of us don’t show up for our own lives.

Stop focusing on Hashem’s domain – how we would like things to be – and start focusing on your own domain, doing what you’re meant to do.

Let Hashem be Hashem and you be you.

In the powerlessness comes power, when we admit that we’re not in control of the world, but we are in control of our own lives, and we’re here to make the right choices.

That’s what it means to show up for your own life.

Dovid’s advice for Hatzlachah

Dovid HaMelech was a great Rebbe. His counsel for hatzlachah was to study Torah.  As it says in Tehillim 1, “He only desires Hashem’s Torah…whatever he does, will succeed…”

This isn’t solely a brachah, it’s a guarantee!

If you study Torah, you will succeed in everything you do.

Rushing out of Shul

Some people leave shul early to get to work.  They think rushing out will earn them more money.

Reb Ezra Barzel said rushing out before davening is over is like someone who rushes to go to work, and forgets to take along the keys to his business.

What Should we Increase?

Chazal say “When Adar arrives we increase joy.”

What should one increase when Nisan arrives?

“When Nisan arrives we should increase emunah.”

Where is Hashem?

Where is Hashem? Up there, in the sky? Really?

That’s what they taught you when you were very little, but as you mature, you realize that up there is a sky and clouds, but Hashem is inside you. He’s with you every moment of every day, everywhere you go.

If you lived your whole life as a Jew, going to shul three times a day and davening, saying every word, but you never ever learned that Hashem isn’t “there,” but “right here,” then you’ve missed out on the essence of being a Jew.

Hashem is here, right here, inside me. ~ Charlie Harary

Truth

Truth does not become more true because the whole world agrees to it, nor less so even if the whole world disagrees with it. ~ Rambam

Shidduch Dating

When I was 17 years old, my parents and my uncle, the Chazon Ish, worked very hard to find a shidduch for me. Yet, shidduch after shidduch did not come to be…. Now, consider this. When the search for my zivug began, my future wife Batsheva, was not yet bas mitzvah!  She was certainly not ready to begin shidduchim.  But since she was my “bashert,” Hashem caused those who were suggested for me to not want to proceed…”
