Top of the List

The Mishnah Berurah (90:28) quotes a teshuvos Radvaz, who discusses a prisoner who was permitted to daven one day with a minyan. The question is which day he should choose. Should he request to go to shul on Yom Kippur or Purim?

In the end, the Radvaz rules that he should go to shul at the first possible opportunity because if he pushes off the offer, you never know what will be.  But we can see from this the importance of these two days: Purim and Yom Kippur. He didn’t even write Rosh Hashanah. Purim and Yom Kippur are at the top of the list of days to take advantage of davening in shul.

Don’t miss the opportunity! Plan the day around tefilah!

Hashem’s Delight

When God wishes to bestow good, man must be able to accept it.  It is God’s nature constantly to bestow His love upon us.  Our sages thus teach us, “More than the calf wants to suckle, the cow wants to provide it with milk.”  Therefore, when man puts himself in a state where he can accept God’s good, this is His delight.

Get Ready

Chazal teach us that three things arrive unexpectedly – Mashiach, a metziah (a find), and a scorpion.

What is the connection between these three?  If one is zoche (merits), the arrival of Mashiach will be like a pleasant but unexpected appearance of a metziah – he will rejoice and it will be good for him.  But if he doesn’t merit, Mashiach’s coming will be sudden and harsh, like the unexpected pain from the bite of a scorpion! ~ The Maharsha

Everything is by Divine Providence. If a leaf is turned over by a breeze, it is only because this has been specifically ordained by Hashem to serve a particular function within the purpose of creation.

Positive Attitude

Mishenichnas Adar Marbim B’Simcha doesn’t mean that there is automatically good mazel during Adar.

It is a charge to us that through a positive attitude we engineer good mazel.

Positivity breeds success. We control our own destiny.
