The Only Difference

The only difference between where you are and where you want to be is the steps you haven’t taken yet.

The Decision

Simcha, happiness, is a decision, not an emotion. Simcha is the result of focusing on what is there, not what is missing, on the blessings, not the challenges, on everything being by design from Above, not random or chance. ~ R’ Efrem Goldberg

Smile

If someone is too tired to give you a smile, leave one of your own, because no one needs a smile as much as those who have none to give. ~ R’ Samson Rephael Hirsch zt”l

Now – Not Later

The wise person will perform good deeds as soon as he gets the opportunity to do so. A fool, however, will push off doing good deeds, claiming that he will do them later. Even though he might think he will really do them later, the delay will often lead to his not doing the good deeds at all. ~ Vilna Gaon

All Part of the Plan

Many people express gratitude to Hashem for being saved from problematic situations. But they would prefer for the problem or difficulty not to have arisen in the first place. This, however, is not the proper attitude.

The purpose of all problems is that they should serve as a means for a person to become closer to Hashem. Both the problems and solutions are part of the divine plan to help elevate you. ~ R’ Yeruchem Levovitz zt”l

Tiny Improvements

Hashem judges us entirely based on how we disconnect from our current status to an ever so slightly higher status – even a hair’s breadth.

Hashem collects all of those hairs and creates great things from them. ~ R’ Menachem Azolai

Weddings are Expensive, but…

When it comes to marrying off children, many people are worried: “How will we manage to put together so much money?” This isn’t a new problem. It was around for generations. But Hashem helps. Gird yourself with bitachon, and see the wonders Hashem will do for you.

Once, two mechutanim came to the Chazon Ish zt’l. Each of them argued that the other one should pay the lion’s share of their children’s upcoming wedding.

When they left, the Chazon Ish said to his relative, Reb Shmaryahu Greineman zt’l, “Do you know what they were arguing about? They were debating who should receive Hashem’s brachos. Each one said the other one should receive Hashem’s brachos…” Because Hashem blesses and helps those who are obligated to pay for a wedding. ~ R’ Elimelech Biderman

This is what’s Best

Everything a person has is allotted to him by Hashem.  Don’t think that if something is not going well in a person’s life, it could still be better.  If it could be better, it would be better! ~ The Chafetz Chaim
