Traveling?

When you are traveling and unable to pray or learn in the way to which you are accustomed, don’t get yourself all distressed. Hashem desires that you serve Him in all modalities that exist, sometimes in one way, sometimes in another.

That is why you ended up in this situation, so that you can serve Him now in a different way.

~ Baal Shem Tov

Such a Relief!

The Nesivos Shalom zt’l had the following dream: He saw the month of Elul passing, and then Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur up to Hoshanah Rabba, but he saw himself remaining the same, without any inspiration to improve.

Then he woke up from his dream, and it was still erev Rosh Chodesh Elul. Relieved, he saw that it wasn’t too late. He can still utilize the month of Elul, and turn these days into a success story for teshuvah.

Elul has arrived! Now is the time! Let’s not let it pass us by without making the most of it!

What your Friend Really Needs

Our friends do not always need to receive advice.  Often, they only need an attentive ear to listen to them, with a strong hand to support them, and an open heart to understand them.

What it’s all About

It states (Tehillim 105:3), “Rejoice the hearts of those who yearn for Hashem.”

The pasuk doesn’t say “Rejoice the hearts of those who serve Hashem,” instead it states “Rejoice the hearts of those who want to serve Hashem.

Because wanting to serve Hashem is the highest level. ~ R’ Elimelech Biderman

A Small World

In the holy books, it is written that a person is referred to as an olam katan – a small world.

Why is a human being called this?  Because if he regards himself as small, he is as great as the entire world, whereas if he regards himself as big as the world, in truth, he is really small! ~ R’ Noach of Kobrin zt”l
