Always There to Listen

When someone bothers another person too much, burdening him with his problems, the other can get fed up and say “this is enough.” But not so with Hashem.  No matter how much one burdens Hashem, He is always there to listen, as the verse says (in Tehillim 55:23), “Cast your burden onto God, and He shall sustain you.” ~ Talmud Yerushalmi – Berachos

Don’t Stop Learning!

Even if one has a weak mind, if he places all his strength in studying of Torah, he will receive siyata dishmaya and become a gadol in Torah even if it is beyond his natural abilities. ~ The Steipler Gaon zt”l

People don’t stop learning because they have a weak mind.  They have a weak mind because they stopped learning.  Had they persevered, they would have succeeded in Torah.

Don’t Stop Trying!

When Hakadosh Baruch Hu brings a neshamah to this world, Hashem sends it down via a very long ladder that extends from heaven to earth. After the neshamah reaches earth, Hakadosh Baruch Hu takes the ladder away and says, “Now climb up again on your own.” ~ The Kotzker Rebbe zt”l

Rav Biderman says that some neshamos give up immediately. Others jump, but when they fall back down, they give up.  However, some jump and jump, again and again, until Hakadosh Baruch Hu has mercy on them and brings them up to heaven. Because when a person tries, Hashem will help him.

Missed the Bus?

Reb Yitzchak Dovid Gutfarb zt”l of Yerushalayim said, “I never missed a bus, though sometimes I came early for the next bus.”

If it was destined for him to take the next bus; he didn’t miss the bus that was meant for him.

The Value of a Mitzvah

The Baal Shem Tov says, if once in your lifetime you gave one thirsty man a glass of water, that is enough reason to dance for 70 years! ~ R’ Shlomo Carlebach zt”l

Awaiting the Mashiach

After a person passes away, the Heavenly Courts asks “Did you await the final redemption?” The Hebrew word for “await” (tzofeh) means “to look for.” Therefore, every Jew should be on the lookout with his eyes and heart all the time to see if perhaps the Mashiach has arrived. He should wholeheartedly expect God’s salvation, which can come in the blink of an eye.

With this sense of expectation, one will certainly behave differently, and will merit to see the greatest things which God will grant him as a reward for awaiting the Mashiach. ~ Heichal HaBerachah
