Don’t Worry; Be Happy

If a person will be happy simply because he’s a Yid, I guarantee that nothing bad will happen to him – neither beruchniyus nor begashmiyus (spiritually nor physically).” ~ Beis Aharon zt”l

No Fear

A person with complete belief in the Almighty does not fear any external matter as he realizes nothing has its own intrinsic existence. Hence the only thing to fear is the Almighty ~ Beis Halevi

Feeling Joy in the Present Moments

A person who masters coping and, better yet, feeling joy in his present moments need never worry about the future.  When the future comes, it will be the present and he will be able to handle it. Moreover, if you master feeling joy in your present moments, you need never be concerned you are missing anything, since whatever you are engaged in can be transformed into an elevating experience. ~ R’ Zelig Pliskin

The Purpose of Danger

The purpose of danger is to bring us close to the Almighty.  Those who use the event to elevate themselves becomes closer.  Those who fail to do so become further away from Him.  In time of danger, it is against the Torah’s outlook to peacefully go about your own business.  Not paying attention and laughing off the entire situation does not constitute trust in the Almighty. ~ Kovetz Inyanim

Some Benefits of Suffering

There are two main benefits from suffering.  It serves as an atonement for transgressions, and as an incentive for us to improve our behavior.

When you improve because of your suffering, appreciate the suffering since you have gained immensely because of it. ~ Rabainu Yonah in Shaarey Tshuva 2:3,4

Arrogance

Anger at your faults is arrogance – and of a very self-destructive form.  Every failure becomes pain, every pain becomes a gruesome punishment.

Punishment for what? For having been born imperfect.  As though you made yourself, as though you are your own god.

A humble person is an objective person, capable of looking at his faults, seeing what needs to change, and saying “This is what G-d gave me to work with.” ~ R’ Tzvi Freeman

Tonight – Big Opportunity

I received from Reb Mendel Lilig zt”l, the Rav of Frankfort who received the tradition from the Sheiv Yaakov, that whoever studies Torah between the megillah reading at night and the megillah of the morning, it is certain that he will merit Olam HaBa. ~ Chasam Sofer

So Special!

The Satmar Rebbe zt”l said that it would be worthwhile for a person to live 70 years to go through all the hardships of life, to hear the megillah just once.
