The Benefit of the Doubt

We are commanded to give every person the benefit of the doubt.  Why then, are people sometimes hesitant to give Hashem the same benefit of the doubt? ~ R’ Aharon Karliner zt”l

Showing an Email or Letter to Others

You are forbidden to show someone’s letter [or email] to others in order to belittle its writer.  Even if you don’t make any comments, if the reader will get the impression that the writer is lacking in general intelligence or in Torah knowledge, this constitutes loshon hora by way of innuendo or allusion.  ~ Guard Your Tongue

R’ Shlomo Freifeld zt”l

At a question and answer session, a newcomer asked R’ Shlomo Freifeld zt”l a question.

“What is yiras Shamayim?”

Reb Shlomo silently pondered the question, clearly marveling at the fact that a young man with several generations of pure southern blood in his veins was shedding the American dream in his quest for truth.  Then, speaking slowly and deliberately, he remarked in obvious wonder, “Yossie Loeb from Montgomery, Alabama, want to know what yiras Shamayim is!”

Kad Yavsin {Song}

Here is another very holy song from the Zohar Hakadosh.  Enjoy!

When the Jewish people immerse themselves in the joy of studying Torah, the Holy One Blessed is He, Says to all His heavenly hosts: Look! Look! at my beloved children as they forget their own sufferings and immerse themselves in my loving Torah. ~ Zohar

A Chassidic Melody

A chassidic melody fortifies hope and trust, brings joy, and places the entire household home and family in a state of light. ~ R; Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch zt”l

Last Friday, right before Shabbos, I listened to Kah Echsof which was posted here earlier that day (https://emunadaily.com/2014/11/14/ka-echsof-song/). What a way to go into Shabbos.  Tomorrow I have another melody to share which could also potentially bring you to new heights.

How do you measure success?

The word chatas, which we translate as sin, should be translated in a different manner. It doesn’t mean sin; of course it is a sin. What it means is failure.

Chatas means a failure in life. A failure to achieve. And that’s the biggest of all sins. We are not in this world merely to avoid doing bad deeds. ~ R’ Avigdor Miller zt”l
