Friends

“Friends are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to actually hear an answer!” ~ R’ Adin Kronenglass zt”l

A World Becoming

The times in which our generation lives are not ordinary times.  We dwell on the interface between two worlds: A world as it is and a world as it is meant to be.

Everything is in place, all the infrastructure to bind the world as one, the technology by which all of humanity can share deep wisdom, to grasp the secret of oneness with the human mind.

The stage is set.

All that is left is for us to open our eyes.  ~ R’ Tzvi Freeman

Greater than Deeds

“Rabbi Eleazar said: Prayer is greater than good deeds.  No one had done more good deeds than Moshe, but still, he was only answered after he prayed.” ~ Talmud Berachos 32b

When the Brain Kicks Out

“Understanding that a given situation is for the best is not emuna that everything is for the best.  From a spiritual standpoint, comprehension is a much lower level than emuna.  At the point where the brain no longer understands how Hashem is doing everything for the very best, emuna begins.  In other words, emuna kicks in when the brain kicks out.” ~ The Garden of Emuna

Charity

“Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Lubavitch used to say: When you make a decision to give charity and to help another person generously–even if your decision does not reflect your available means–new channels are created on High to produce all that is needed for the fulfillment of your good resolution.” Igrot Kodesh quoting Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi

The Prosecuting Angels

“Every mitzvah that a Jew does creates a good angel and every sin creates an evil one.  I never saw a whole angel created by the transgression of a Jew.  Every angel created by a sin is missing a limb.  The reason is because every Jew has an innate belief and faith in Hashem, and even if he slips and commits a sin, he immediately regrets his action, sighs, and is sorry what he has done.  These sighs have the power to maim the limbs of the resulting prosecuting angels.” ~ R’ Zushia of Anipoli zt”l as quoted in Torah Tavlin

Wisdom but No Fear

“One who possesses Torah wisdom but lacks fear of Heaven is compared to a treasurer who has the key to the inner door but lacks the keys to the front door.”  Shabbat 31a cited by Midrash David

Out of This World Story

I don’t usually post on Saturday night, but I think it’s important to share this incredibly inspiring story.  This past week, I had the pleasure of meeting a very special person, Alon Anava.   Alon has an incredible story.   To quote R’ Adam Stein, “Alon’s story is amazing. All that we believe about life after death becomes much more real after listening to Alon’s description of all that he experienced. For there’s a big difference between reading it in the books and hearing it from first-hand experience.”  His story is literally out of this world and I think it’s important for everyone to watch his video.    I sent out a similar video months back which got a lot of positive feedback.  (https://emunadaily.com/2012/02/20/life-changing-video/)   Alon tells his story in English.  He is very eloquent and tells it over in a way that is easy to understand.   If you have nothing to do tonight or perhaps tomorrow while fasting, I highly recommend that you watch his video which could be found at http://www.alonanava.com/
Furthermore, Alon feels that it is his mission to tell his story to everyone willing to hear it.  Therefore, if you would like to meet Alon to hear his story first-hand and have the opportunity to ask him questions, please let me know.

The Holy Shikker Dovid

The following is a quick D’var Torah from my good friend, The Shikker Dovid.  He posted this last year on his blog www.shikkerdovid.com and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

“It appears to the ShikkerDovid that neither Bnei Yisrael, nor Moshe had any idea that Bilaam hired Balak to curse them.  The give and take between Bilaam and the emissaries of Balak is like a smoky, back room cabal.   Throughout this whole parsha, you could just imagine bnei yisroel, going about their business, eating the Manna from Hashem and utterly clueless that forces are gathering to curse them.

The lesson here is that even when we do not know that we are in danger, Hashem is watching over us. He is protecting us. He is putting obstacles in the way of people who wish to harm us, just as He did to Bilaam on the donkey.  We must have emuna that Hashem’s watchful eye is protecting us, especially when the danger is not apparent.”

Whatever Is Sent Your Way

“As soon as you start measuring good deeds, to determine which is greater, which takes priority over the other — you have already entered precarious ground.  Your job is to do whatever is sent your way.” ~ Bringing Heaven Down to Earth by Tzvi Freeman
