Love Letter

“If you are experiencing trials and tribulations, know that it is simply Hashem trying to start a conversation with you. With emuna, a person can start to see their suffering as a sort of ‘love letter’ from Hashem, telling them: “Dear son or daughter, I love you, I miss you and I am waiting for your prayers…”  ~ R’ Shalom Arush

The World is Hungry

“The world is hungry.  There is a prophesy.  It is happening today: ‘Days are coming… There will be a hunger in the world; but the hunger will not be for bread and the thirst will not be for water, but to hear the word of the living G-d.’

Let the hungry people get together, you and I, those hungry to teach our children One word.  Let us get together and fix the world.” ~ R’ Shlomo Carlebach

Why do we have difficulties?

“If man were to be without any sense of burden, his life would veer recklessly out of control.  Hashem, therefore, gives him worries and difficulties, leaving him no time or energy for sin and foolishness.”  ~ R’ Moshe of Korbin zt”l from Torah Tavlin

Wherever I see deficiency…

“Rabbi Nathan of Breslev, Rebbe Nachman’s prime disciple, always used to say, ‘Wherever I see deficiency, either there was no prayer or insufficient prayer.’  Consequently, sufficient prayer can invoke a solution to any problem.”  ~ The Garden of Emuna

The Instructions came First

People think that G-d first made a world and then gave us instructions to follow, so we won’t mess it up. The truth is, the instructions came first, and the world was designed as the venue to carry them out.  Therefore, to say that anything in the world could be an opposition to carrying out its Creator’s will is an absurdity. There can be no opponents to the purpose of creation — only meaningful challenges.

Create an Environment

“My father said ‘A chassid creates an environment. If he does not, he had better check his own baggage carefully, to see whether his own affairs are in order. The very fact that he fails to create an environment should make him as broken as a splinter. He must demand of himself: What am I doing in this world?’”  ~ Compiled and arranged by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, from his father, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, of righteous memory.

My friend, R’ Menachem Mendel Rafael (Mark) Weisman explains “One is supposed to create the environment, not wonder why it’s a bad environment.  We need to try and make a place for Hashem, connecting the world above with the world below.”

Why Worry?

“Even if the chances of success and failure are equal, why worry about failure when you can just as easily hope for success?” ~ Rambam

Advice on Anger

Prepare yourself with this meditation, and when you feel anger overcoming you, run through it in your mind:

Know that all that befalls you comes from a single source, that there is nothing outside of that oneness to be blamed for any event in the universe.  There is no other force but G-d.  And although this person who insulted you, or hurt you, or damaged your  property — he is granted free choice and is held culpable for his decision to do wrong — That is his problem. That it had to happen to you — that is your problem.  ~Bringing Heaven Down to Earth by Tzvi Freeman
