The Gates of Tears

Ever since the Beis Hamikdash was destroyed, the gates to heaven are closed.

Except one set of gates.  The gates of tears.  They have never closed.

Now, what does that mean? You get some tears on your cheeks and you’re guaranteed an answer?

When does a person cry? When he really feels it. When he’s really moved. When it hurts. When it’s sincere and genuine.

Tefillah has to be for real, and then it’s tefillah, and then it goes straight in, and then it’s accepted.

The gates of tears, the doors that stand before tefillos offered from a place of complete and total sincerity, they are the ones that are wide open.

Moser Nefesh

When a person is moser nefesh – when he makes a great sacrifice, exerting himself beyond his capabilities to do a mitzvah – then Hashem gives him extra assistance to accomplish his goals.

Clean Pipes

The water in the tank can be pure, but if the pipe that carries it is stuffed or corroded, you won’t get to that clean water.

Your tefillos are so holy, and there are pipes meant to carry them to Heaven; your mouths.

And when a person lies or slanders, when he or she uses his/her mouth to hurt another, he or she destroys those pipes.

The ocean is filled with clean, pure water.

Let that holiness get to where it’s meant to be, let those pipes be perfect and whole.

Faith Depends on This

Faith is dependent upon a person’s mouth. [Speaking about faith not only increases it – it is faith!]

A Sniff

Chazal teach us that all the pleasures of this world are naught compared to a moment’s delight in the World-to-Come.

It has been noted that not only is a moment of the next world more pleasurable than all of this world’s joy, but even a mere sniff of its fragrance is superior to anything this world can offer.

The Right Place

Wherever Hashem directs our steps, we find our purpose.

If we stop asking “What am I doing here?” and ask instead, “What can I do here?” we will never doubt that we are exactly where we need to be.

A Journey

Life is a journey through the world.  And the next world is the destination…

If you grasp your life as a journey to an amazing destination, the building of an eternal result, the difficulties of life become meaningful.

In fact, it is those very difficulties which build the result most significantly.

1,000 Times Better

Humility is the root of Divine service; a small deed of a humble man is 1,000 times more acceptable to Hashem than a great deed of a proud man.

Don’t Get Down

Let’s say you relied on Hashem, you put in the work for Bitachon, and it didn’t come out the way you wanted it to.

Don’t get down!

The s’char – the reward – that we received from working on it is far bigger than if I had got what I wanted.
