Empathy

After you master the ability to feel the pain of other people as if it were your own pain, the next step is to feel the Almighty’s pain, since the Creator has empathy for the suffering of mortals. ~ R’ Simcha Zissel Ziv zt”l

The Goal of All Education

The goal of all education, preaching, and instruction is the development of mature individuals who will understand that difficulties in life are Divine-ordained challenges to overcome and opportunities for growth, and not excuses for defeat and self-ruination. ~ R’ Aaron M. Brafman zt”l

Baggage

Given a choice, people would reclaim their own baggage in life over others.

~ R’ Simcha Bunim of Peshischa zt”l

In other words, if everyone’s “baggage” or troubles were spread out on a table and people were given the option of exchanging their baggage with someone else’s, they would inevitably take back their own.  That is because Hashem gives each person exactly what they need to overcome their own individual challenges.

A Nation of Dreamers

We’re a nation of dreamers. Rav Meir Shapiro dreamt of launching the Daf Yomi.  Sarah Schenirer dreamt of establishing Bais Yaakov. Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel dreamt of expanding the Mirrer Yeshivah.

And we all have dreams.

Yaakov Avinu dreamt of a ladder, with its head in the heavens.

Our dreams are the same way: our feet might be right here on the ground, sunk in reality, but the top of that ladder goes so high.

Our dreams have to reach the heavens.

How Jews Fight

We don’t fight with swords. We fight with life.

We get revenge on Hitler, yimach shemo, by having children, and then they have children.

More life.

More mitzvos.

More joy.

You said our crime was being Jewish. Well, we’ll show you that being Jewish is what gives our lives meaning and value. It’s what we celebrate.

That’s how we fight.

Light and light and more light. That’s how a Jew fights.
