One Conversation

How many relationships do we have in which we know that one conversation can change everything?

One conversation.

It means calling a parent and saying, “I know that I don’t say it often enough, but I owe you everything.  You did a great job.”

It means calling your child and saying, “I know you don’t think you turned out exactly how I wanted you to, but I want you to know that I love you for you and you’re amazing.”

One conversation. A sentence or two.

There are so many fractured relationships, so much tension in families, between siblings, in-laws, parents.  Go change it.  With one conversation. ~ Charlie Harary

The “Chesed” Malachim

In Heaven, there is a chamber where there are malachim appointed to write down the deeds of chesed that people perform in this world. Whenever the prosecuting malachim speak against the Jewish nation, the “chesed” malachim present the deeds of kindness that Yidden do, and Hashem has compassion on the Jewish nation. This is because Hashem desires chesed. Therefore, even if they are guilty and deserve punishment if they do kindness with each other, Hashem has compassion on them. ~ Tomer Devorah (1:6)

What Intent Should Lie Behind Your Actions?

Everything a person does should have one intention, that Hashem should favor him. He should do only what Hashem wants him to do and because of that Hashem will be pleased with him. ~ R’ Avigdor Miller zt”l

Be very slow indeed to judge others.  If they are wrong, God will judge them and if we are wrong, God will judge us.  ~ R’ Lord Jonathan Sacks zt”l

Which People to Focus On

In material matters, always try to focus on people who have less than you rather than those who have more. ~ Chovos Halvovos (3:7)

Attackers

We are victims of just attacks, but of unjust attackers. ~ R’ Shraga Silverstein

As explained in the Garden of Emuna, when a master uses a stick to clout a slave,  the unfortunate slave certainly doesn’t blame the stick for his troubles.  Man and nature are nothing more than mere agents, sticks in Hashem’s hands.  Rather than looking at the stick, we should always remember to look at who’s swinging it – Hashem!
