Then, it won’t help. Now it will!

The Yismach Moshe zt’l said that when he was young, he heard from tzaddikim that when one says viduy he should think: a time will come when I will stand before the beis din in heaven (the Heavenly court). I will be dressed in a tallis and a kittel, and I will say viduy like I’m saying now, but then it won’t help me. But now I can fix everything with my viduy…”

Praying for Gashmiyos

If one doesn’t pray for his gashmiyos needs (worldly possessions), that means he thinks he can manage those matters on his own. But, of course, he can’t. One can’t do anything without Hashem. Therefore, one should pray for his gashmiyos needs too. ~ R’ Elimelech Biderman Shlita

How Our Prayers are Accepted

When you are davening in deep concentration and thought, know that prayer is accepted with the same amount of concentration it is said with.  ~ Rabbeinu David Ben Yosef Avudraham zt”l

Daven well and may we all be blessed with a Shanah Tovah!

Don’t Forget to Set this Up before Rosh Hashanah!

I just wanted to remind you to set yourself up with one or both of these wonderful organizations before Rosh Hashanah to ensure that a day does not go by the entire year without giving tzedaka.

Daily Giving –   https://dailygiving.org/

Sign up to donate $1 per day to charity, which they will distribute to over 40 wonderful charities that serve the greater Jewish community.  Click this link https://dailygiving.org/tzedaka-organizations/ for a list of the charitable organizations they distribute the money to.  You are probably familiar with the majority of them.  I encourage you all to check out their website.  Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity!

Keren Hashanahttps://www.lubavitch.com/donate/keren-hashana/

Many years ago, the Lubavitcher Rebbe established “Keren Hashana,” a fund that will also disburse your tzedaka  to worthy causes, daily, giving you the benefit of this mitzvah every day of the year!

You can give as little as 5 cents per day ($17.65 for the year) for you, and if you want, each of your family members, which will ensure that you and your family don’t go a day without giving tzedaka.

It is so easy to set up and this way you know that each day you are taking part in this important mitzvah.   If you prefer to call them, the phone number is 718 774-4000.

Don’t wait!  These organizations are a lifesaver and now is the time to take care of this.

Lastly, don’t forget that “causing others to give tzedaka is greater than giving tzedakah yourself” (Bava Basra 9).   Therefore, pass this on!  By forwarding this to friends and family, who knows how many people will sign up for this great mitzvah and how much of an effect it will have on your neshama going into Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

What to Review before Rosh Hashanah

Some people spend time reviewing the machzor before Rosh Hashanah [which is a great idea, however…]  The machzor won’t change!  Better one should review his deeds and correct them!”  ~ R’ Mordechai of Densburg zt”l

One Day at a Time

In my youth, I was considered a bright and diligent student.  How did I accomplish this?  I tricked my yetzer hara

Other children had great plans at the beginning of the school year for the whole year, but in the end they failed.  I said to myself, “I am going to plan just for today and set a goal for this day only.”

The Satan, not being interested in a single day, left me alone.  The next day, I again just made plans for that day, and so on until the end of the year.

Love Letter From Hashem

If you are experiencing trials and tribulations, know that it is simply Hashem trying to start a conversation with you. With emuna, a person can start to see their suffering as a sort of “love letter” from Hashem, telling them: “Dear son or daughter, I love you, I miss you and I am waiting for your prayers…”  ~ R. Shalom Arush

Reasonable Fear

The Ralbag teaches that you should have a reasonable fear of potential danger and guard yourself form harm.

While you should work on overcoming unnecessary worrying, have a healthy concern for your welfare and sensibly guard yourself from harm.  Overcoming worry does not mean putting yourself in danger, but having a calm attitude in dealing with difficulties and accepting what cannot be changed.  ~ R’ Zelig Pliskin

Never get Discouraged

The true cause of being unable to comprehend Torah learning is one’s feeling of discouragement.  It’s not that people get discouraged because they don’t understand.  Rather, discouragement is the cause of not understanding! ~ Steipler Goan
