Our Greatest Blessing

Our greatest blessings were uttered not by Moses, not by David, not even by G‑d Himself. They were uttered by a wicked sorcerer, hired to curse. The most brilliant diamonds hide in the deepest bowels of the earth; the most intense blessings in the darkest caverns of life. ~ R’ Tzvi Freeman

Perhaps he did Tshuvah

If it is clearly impossible to judge someone’s action favorably, you are nonetheless forbidden to tell others about the sin if it is a first offense…Since he has sinned only once, it is possible that he will regret his misdeed and do tshuvah…If you embarrass him in public and he has done tshuvah, you are liable to lose your share in olam haboh.  ~ Guard Your Tongue

One Hour

The head of a large company turned to R’ Yisroel Salanter zt”l with the following question.  He had only one free hour a day to learn.  What should he learn during that time? “Spend the hour learning Mussar,” answered R’ Yisroel.  “If you do so, you will discover many more free hours in the day.” ~ Sparks of Mussar

Love

That which a person gives to another person is never lost.  It is an extension of his own being.  He can see a part of himself in the one to whom he has given. This is the attachment between one person and another to which we give the name “love.”  ~ R’ Eliyahu Dessler zt”l

Why One Must Rush to Repent

A person who dies without teshuva dies with a stain and goes to Gehinom.  They put detergents on him to get the stain out, and the detergents hurt… oooohhh de they hurt!  They burn! So the Neshama is somewhat scarred from his experience from Gehinom.  Therefore we shouldn’t wait until Gehinom in order to get rid of the stain.  Do teshuva while you’re still alive. ~ R’ Avigdor Miller zt”l

True Emuna

When a person finds himself in trouble and distress, and he sees no natural way to escape from his Evil Urge, and he then casts his lot with the Lord and trusts in Him, this is still not trust of God on the level of truth, because he has no other choice.  If, however, a person lives comfortably and lacks nothing, and nevertheless negates all and trusts in the Lord – this is true trust. ~ The Kotzker Rebbe
