Mi Shemaamin – מי שמאמין – He Who Believes

I haven’t posted a song in a while and want to start the week on a high.  I can’t think of anything greater than watching our holy soldiers in Israel sing and dance like they did before entering battle in Gaza this past summer  in this inspiring video.

This next video has the complete song played above.  See below for the lyrics and translation which are as powerful as the music itself.

In every place, all the time
Everyone, old and young alike, has
Nice days and bad days
And in between them is the answer to all questions

There is one great G-d
In this world, he gives us everything
From darkness to light
The path that we just have to choose

And it is know that life is a gift
Everything is foreseen and given

He who believes is never afraid
Of losing hope
And we have the King of the Universe
And he protects us from everyone

This nation is a family
Time and time again that is the secret to success
The nation of Israel will not give up
We will always remain on the map

And it is know that life is a gift
Everything is foreseen and given

He who believes is never afraid…

It is a great deed to be happy
To always be happy

He who believes is never afraid…

He didn’t say “It’s a secret”

If someone tells you private information about his business or any personal matter, you are forbidden to disclose it to others. Your doing so could cause the person who confided in you financial loss, embarrassment, or other damage. Even if the speaker did not request that the matter remain secret, you are not allowed to repeat it. It is self-evident that the speaker does not want such information to be divulged.

However, if that person related information concerning himself in the presence of three or more people and did not request secrecy, they are permitted to relate it to others. Since the speaker related it to a group of three or more people, we can assume that he does not mind if the information will be known. ~ Guard Your Tongue

The Mother of Rabbi Simcha Zissel Ziv zt”l

The mother of Rabbi Simcha Zissel Ziv had a custom to collect money for the poor at funerals.  At the funeral of her only daughter, she also collected charity.  When asked how she was able to compose herself in the summit of her grief, she replied, “Just because I am suffering does not mean that the poor have to suffer also.” ~ R’ Zelig Pliskin

Fight and Win

The more you want to serve G-d, the more the Evil One (yeitzer hara) strives against you.  If you realize this, you can fight him with strategy and continually defeat him.  With G-d’s help, you will be worthy of emerging victorious. ~ R’ Nachman  of Breslov zt”l

Ridiculing Torah Lectures

Many people erroneously feel justified in ridiculing a Torah lecture or sermon.  Unfortunately, this practice is quite common and the source of serious harm.  Even if it is true that the delivery was poor or that the content was lacking depth, you are prohibited from mocking or ridiculing the speaker.  Your assessment of the lecture is in many instances largely subjective matter.  One person may enjoy light parables, while his friend prefers intricate philosophical discussions.  Even though you did not appreciate what was said, others might have.  In any event, never belittle the lecturer.  ~ Guard Your Tongue
