The Teshuva Process has 3 Stages

When one begins on his path of teshuvah, Hashem sends a light of holiness that inspires him, and makes his return easy and enjoyable.

Then, Hashem takes away the light and the tests begin. Now he must stand strong by himself. At this phase, a person is tempted to give up. But if he remains strong in his resolve, avodas Hashem will eventually become easy and sweet for him once again.

Don’t Limit Yourself

Don’t think about how Hashem will give you parnassah, because that chas veshalom limits the parnassah

Hashem Believes in You

Hashem woke you up this morning because he had emuna in you that you would succeed today.

We say in Modeh Ani, “rabbah emunasecha.”  Your emuna in me is so great Hashem, that you gave me life so I can serve You today.

Do you hear what’s going on over here? Hashem gave you life and put you in this situation because He has emuna in you that you can do it!

Hashem could have put you in any generation.  You could have been born in Moshe Rebeinu’s generation eating manna.  But Hashem said, I am going to put you in this generation, you know why?  Because I believe in you, that you will be able to pass the test that I put in this generation.

“Hashem does not give a person a test that he cannot pass.”  That means you all can do it.  That means we all can do it! ~ R’ Yosef Palacci

Why So Machmir?

Upon being asked why he was so stringent in Halachah, the Brisker Rav answered with a question of his own:

“Would you be willing to sleep on the roof of a hundred-story building, if there was no gate around its parameters? You wouldn’t want to sleep there even if you weren’t at the edge. If you are so afraid and cautious for your physical wellbeing, shouldn’t you be concerned and cautious for your spiritual wellbeing as well?”

Bring your davening to a whole new level by joining Tefillah Yomi –  https://chat.whatsapp.com/C5JOgGKAG7c1P8YLqKoCD0 – I am VERY excited about this new group, which is similar in style to Emuna Daily.  A short daily thought based on the teachings of Rav Avigdor Miller zt”l is sent out each morning to further your understanding and appreciation of your daily tefillos. They are about to start going through Shemona Esrei, so now is the perfect time to join! Trust me on this one. Join it today and thank me tomorrow.

I recently joined Orchos Chaim L’Harosh – https://chat.whatsapp.com/DLE094zuSKP2DyEbKoXp4n – A daily dose of personal growth in the form of a short 2-3 minute daily audio shiur in Orchos Chaim L’Harosh – It is short and sweet. I have gained immensely from it and you will too.

And lastly, once we are inspired by all the above groups, listen to a quick daily shiur on Hilchos Shabbos – https://chat.whatsapp.com/G41vhNqc2UNDB2hMLB6M1U – and/or Hilchos Brachos – https://chat.whatsapp.com/H0zJwT6PpAp7VDL5lSq9fl – from Rabbi Aaron Weichbrod.  I joined each of these a couple of months ago and have learned so much!

The Right Attitude Towards Competitors

Reb Zalman Brizel zt’l had a bakery in Meah Shearim where one of his employees learned
the tricks of the trade and opened his own bakery nearby.

Not only was Reb Zalman not angry, he even offered him advice on how to improve his business.

Upon being asked why he did this, Reb Zalman replied, “My parnassah was pre-determined on Rosh Hashanah, so he isn’t taking anything away from me. In fact, he is saving me time and work because he is taking some of my customers while, simultaneously, I’m not losing money. So, if he helps me, shouldn’t I have hakaras hatov and help him, too?”

Dating Advice

Upon being asked whether a Yeshiva student should insist on marrying the daughter of a talmid chacham, HaRav Avigdor Nebenzahl replied, “It is certainly commendable, but what is more important is to insist that your wife is the wife of a talmid chacham.”
